A rich, full wine with marmalade, honey and fresh peaches as well as orange blossom flavours integrated with subtle toasty French oak aromas. The wine has a creamy mouth feel with oregano and apricot flavours lingering on the aftertaste. Wonderfully paired with line fish, sushi, poultry dishes and mild Thai curry's.
Grapes hand-picked and grape must handled in a reductive style (without oxygen exposure). Must is kept chilled to preserve aromas before being gently pressed using a vacuum press. Fermentation initiated in French oak barrels using a combination of wild yeast and commercial yeast strains.
Wine matured on the yeast lees for 10 months. 30% new French oak, rest in 2nd and 3rd fill barrels.
Anura Vineyards are owned and run by the Bouma family. Positioned on the foothills on the Simonsberg Mountains in South Africa, Anura boasts a wide variety of soils, slopes and microclimates. This allows us to grow a wide selection of cultivars, some uncommon in South Africa, and also to match each cultivar with its ideal soil and microclimate. With each passing harvest we learn more about our soils and vineyards, and refine our vineyard and cellar practices in order to create the finest wines for our unique terroir.
