Baggie's Handcrafted Cured Guanciale

from $10.50

In StockIn StockOut of stock

Guanciale is a traditional Italian cured pork, made from the jowl and seasoned with salt, black pepper, rosemary, garlic, wine and an added smokey flavour. Perfect in your home cooked Italian meals.

Pronounced gwaan-CHAA-lei, Guanciale is a rich and delicious fatty piece of pork taken from the cheek or jowl.  We prepare and cure our Guanciale at our Joo Chiat Singapore Deli for 30-40 days until it is perfectly matured.

Guanciale is a perfect addition to your charcuterie boards, wrapped around vegetables, chopped up and tossed with pasta, and served in sandwiches. It's also sometimes strewn over wood-fired pizzas for a salty, meaty bite. Two common Italian pasta dishes which feature Guanciale are Spaghetti Alla Carbonara and Amatriciana. The Guanciale meat adds umami richness to the sauce as well as some saltiness and velvety backbone.

We sell our Guanciale in whole pieces for you to slice or cube at home so it best suits your needs.

Excellent

Used it in a carbonara - excellent flavour and texture. Was fattier than pictured, but suits for a dish where you need flavourful fat rendering out.
